ACE Award

Many youth face tough problems and work hard to overcome them.  These students display drive and nobility to finish High School instead of dropping out.  The ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award recognizes high school students who have had to overcome great physical, emotional or social obstacles and are now eligible for high school graduation.

This positive program accomplishes two key objectives.  First, it helps encourage students to overcome their hardships and get back on track towards a high school diploma.  Second, the award recognizes those students who are often overlooked for their accomplishments.  This special recognition serves as a powerful example to all students that hard work and perseverance really do pay.

In both 2008 and 2009, the Ogden Noon Exchange Club raised roughly $10,000 for the ACE Awards, which were distributed among several deserving local students.  The first place winner goes on to compete for the District ACE of the year, and ultimately the National ACE of the Year Award.

Last year's ACE Awards dinner was held on April 13, 2010 at the Timbermine Restaurant.  Mclain Meenderink was this year's winner, and he was awarded a $4,000 scholarship.  The runner-up's, Lauren Montierth and Jessika Watanabe, each received a $1,000 scholarship.  Great job to these three outstanding individuals!  Watch the KSL broadcast via the following link:
